The Neighbourhood

Altrebol is located close to the village of San Jose de Malcocinado, known locally as La Yeguada since it was used as a military stud farm from 1850 to 1939, and the town of Benalup Casas Viejas in the province of Cadiz, Andalusia.

There are several bars/restaurants and hotels in the area. Across the road from AlTrebol, about three hundred yards in the direction of Benalup Casas Viejas, is a rural 'venta' (hotel/bar/restaurant with a private bullring) called Cortijo los Monteros, renowned for its outstanding steaks. They offer typical Spanish breakfasts, tapas, a 'menu del día' (Monday to Friday) and an impressive a la carte menu later in the evenings and weekends.
About the same distance In the opposite direction, at the outskirt of San José de Malcocinado, is a village 'venta' (bar/restaurant) called El Negro, popular with the locals.
Just before the "La Yeguada" garden centre, is a pharmacy which publishes on its door which pharmacy is on duty on Sundays.
All of these services are within walking distance of AlTrebol, along the access/service roads on either side of the A-2225.

Further afield, at the Benalup roundabout, there is an excellent restaurant called Las Grullas, with a lovely shaded patio.

The Dia supermarket is on the main road through Benalup Casas Viejas.  Like all large supermarkets in the region, Dia is closed on Sundays.  There is an incredibly well-stocked convenience store named Ordonez located close to the football stadium of Benalup which is open on Sundays and holidays from 10 am to 2 pm.

A stroll through the streets of Benalup will reveal a plethora of all kinds of shops you could wish to find, too many to list, but if you're looking for it, Benalup has it! And the people of Benalup are very nice, extremely kind and helpful, and the custom is that you will always receive a greeting when you pass by on the street.
